We had cold weather here in Florida for a few hours 37degrees.  Popped up to the 60's!  

These guys are doing very well and one is coming out soon.  We should be having 77 weather in a few days.  Then some rain for my garden.

Tomatoes did great!  Tasty too!  I picked these today and did a survey of the second crop of lettuce, bunch onions, carrots, radishes, and garlic.

Don't let the little commies, or gossipers get into your life!  They are worthless things!  God will take care of them just like that failed tree!  The signs are everywhere!  You have to be really blind not to see it!

I don't even miss seeing the parade!  I don't care!

I prepared all my goodies last night!  Ready to pop in the oven!  The only thing left is to make the whipping cream for the pumpkin pie!  I can't stand cool whip or that can stuff.  

I tried a new recipe from John Pierre.  I ever so carefully stuffed between the skin the orange rosemary butter on our 20lb turkey.  I usually lay bacon all over it.  I thought I would be more dignafied this year, with that traditional look.  It will be covered for the first hour or so of cooking.

John Pierre!  This better be good, because I know where you live in Fort Lauderdale Florida!  If y'all haven't seen his cooking, he is on youtube.  Actually I have learned quite a bit from him.  He is very good!

I have the stuffing in the oven for the next 40 min.  I will pop it in later to finish it.  Warm it with the sweet potatoes in a dish.  Right now they are in a pot.

The gravy is ready to go just on a warmer now.  I will thicken it later with cornstarch.  I may add some stock to it.  Butter at the end.

Right now I am having a pumpkin scone with coffee, maybe followed by a turkey cookie later!  Enjoy!  Happy Thanksgiving and may God bless!

Garden Update!

 No George Soros!  I don't plan on eating bugs!  I will be happy!  

My garden is doing just fine!

Butterflies all over the place in the butterfly garden part of the property!  The weeping bottlebrush tree has blooms!  That giant leaf thing behind it is a milkweed.  This is 8ft tall!  Below is the lantana, that I will soon have to trim back!  That hint of purple stringy things, are the Mexican Petunias.  They die back and come back in the spring.  I also cut them back.

Cherry tomato plant is getting huge and full of fruit!  Some of the tomatoes are bigger than cherries!  More to come!

I just planted this garlic a week ago!  and it's coming up!  I have to watch for the flower now and cut that off.  It will be ready in June.  I hope I never have to buy garlic again!  The other plants around this garlic is a squash, zucchini, and tomato plant.

Carrots are looking like a forest!  The bunch onions were hit and miss, so what I did yesterday was just reseeded more bunch onions, and more lettuce.  We shall see what happens.  As for the peas and lettuce, I harvested them already.  I noticed the plant for the peas are popping back.  Huh?

I already harvested some of the radishes but here they are!  I read that you have to harvest them fast.  If you leave them in the ground they get a hot taste to them.  I'll pull these up soon and start more.  They were fast growing!  A month and a half!

I counted 4 watermelons!  I cut the vines back, so that the energy would go into the ones that were already getting big.  I read it's good to do that per vine.  So far the one by the bed "the vine grew up and out of the raised bed", is about 7lb.  The one in front I'll give it a 3.  I only got one cantaloup though.  

I'm quite satisfied with the harvest!  My pumpkin plant is still small just sitting there telling me, "yeah, I'm still here!"  Since I started so late with seeds!  Just building up my beds, in this area for growing.  I wasn't going to start all this till December and plant in the spring.  Glad now I didn't wait!  I would have missed out!  I have the feel for it now, I'll be growing much more!  Thank you God!

 Meanwhile I have my garden's late harvest!  This is one days worth.  The carrots are coming along nicely.  I harvested all the lettuce, more radishes, tomatoes, onions, watermelon is getting bigger!  

Not bad for the first time growing vegetables in Florida!  Looks like it will be easier here.  I started all this in September.  Had starts from seed in the miniature greenhouse going in late August.  I was still building my raised bed area.  Still adding soil, so it's a big project!  Corn will be starting next season in the ground with pumpkins.

I also have this guy on patrol!

God Sent Me An Owl

 I have a feathered friend that looks over my garden!  He hangs around the garden bed area.  I don't think I will have a problem with rodents, as long as he is around!  Very cool Great Horned Owl!

Poor thing though was trying to get some shut eye.   

It didn't bother him, that I was around power washing the patio, in the pergola area.  What was annoying, was a crow that found him!  I made a sound of a shot gun and clapped my hands.  He left, but then this guy showed up.

Then my owl said really?  Just try it!

He didn't last long either.  Just wanted to annoy my owl.  You see how they are afraid?  

One can learn so much from nature!

The migrating birds are showing up!  They all came up to me, while I filled each of the 4 stations I, have set up!  Mealworms and all!  Gotta give Gods creatures some food.  The butterflies and birds are all over the place this morning!  Good things do come to those who wait, work hard, save for a rainy day!

Homemade guacamole!  Tomatoes from the garden, with freshly grown cilantro!  It's what's for lunch!  To be washed down with a margarita, of course!

I need to grow my own avocado tree!  Also a lime tree!
