i agree with you to a certain point. the term God is not a term of address. it is a term of existance denoting a life form of greater power and authority and above human beings, a life form we give worship to as our creator.

the term Allah is a term of address and it is here that i would disagree with the bishop. it denotes a sense of familiarity with God that as we,human beings, do not have or should feel we deserve to have. it lowers God down to our level.

to me, calling God Allah or even calling Him Jahovah is like calling our parents by their first name which, to me, is being disrespectful of their place in our lives. but that is just my viewpoint on the matter.

Using the name is one thing for ones religion!

Changing ones religious God for the sake of radicals of a different faith is just plain being submissive! It ain't gonna happen here!

I will not bend for no one got that!..pfft!

Thank you for your comment Griper.

I'm still steaming and it isn't ok with me!

Give those terrorists an inch and they will take all!!!

IN GOD WE TRUST!!!

God is as He is as the Bible declares. Thus, we worship God as He is not as someone calls Him. But I agree that to call Him Allah would only be trying to appease these radicals. And to do it would only declare that we deserve to be treated as dhimmis as we would be under their rule.

you know something. a thought just came to me as i was writing this. dhimmi mean "protected." Maybe we ought to start referring to those defeatist democrats as dhimmicrats because it seems they would prefer people to be protected under the rule of the radical Islamists rather than win the war.

I’m waiting for God to say: “Ok kids knock it off NOW!”

Or: “Do I have to come down there!?!”

It’s going to take God to break up the fight!

The mere thought of having to change MY cultural heritage to accomodate a bunch of savages and lunatics is more than abhorrant.

(personal note: I'm a non-theist.)

I must disagree with the griper in that the Jewish/Christian God IS a personal God. He has had conversations with many people throughout the Old and New Testaments. He has taken a personal interest in the lives and fate of all His children.

The story told in the Bible is unequivical - God is a Fella with whom one can share a beer. Just don't horde the nuts, especially the pistachios as He is apparently fond of them (pistachio nuts are the only nuts mentioned in the Bible.)

Islam's godhead with 99 descriptor titles all starting with "the" is not a very approachable god. Al'Lah simply means "the god" and isn't even very specific. So long as one uses the term, one would never know exactly which god is being referenced. A person could be talking of Pele, the Hawaiian god of fire, and get away with it. Stupid Muslims.

Though I'm a non-theist, I'm not about to bow down to any godhead name that advocates the removal of my head.

That is exactly what I am getting at Indigo! Thank you!

BTW I am asking for a transfer where there are less nuts if that is possible!

One can always hope!

Allah is the God of the Muslims; God is the God of the Christians. My God has a son, Allah does not have a son - they are not the same God....one exists and one does not.

indigo,
you misread my intent. i never intended to imply that there was personal God. God is as He is.

but i think our conclusions are the same, all three of us. we just worded it differently. none of us advocate submission.

Amen Griper!

Ok, griper. Then consider my comment a clarification and expansion. As Joanne says, "they are not the same God". Whether real or mythical, the stories make clear the two did not spring from the same source at all...one encourages the celebration life, wonder, knowledge, and innovation; the other death, destruction, calumny and calamities - like Satan.

The choices we have are clear and the right choice is even clearer. Islam is a religion without hope or a future. Like Hillary, it has too many negatives.

We all are pretty clear & can't be any clearer.

Thanks Indigo
