A Very Old Recipe

Wow, this was different!  I have been watching a couple from St. Jen.  She cooks over a fireplace.  No talking just her making these dishes.  It's very primitive, and it catches my attention.

I decided to try this one receipt.  That is what they called recipes back then.  Sorghum?  What the hell is that?  I must have read it in a story way back, but overlooked it as syrup or honey.  Didn't think you could get it anywhere.  But I did!

This is a fairly easy receipt.  Flour salt water yeast and sorghum.  You have to eyeball it too!  Baking was another guess.  I did mine at 350 for 10 min. checking it and then another 5.  

I'm not fond of stuffed breads.  This was to be an exception.  It was ok, but I think I rather have the bread with no stuffing.  Next time...  till I use up the sorghum.  

I used what she did.  Mushrooms.  That too was the other receipt.  All this was a side dish to the steaks she cooked in the hearth, on coal's.  She has all these old iron trivets.  It's very interesting, how people cooked and what they ate back when.  Very filling!

What A Sunny Morning Sipping On Blackout Coffee!

 I just got my two bags of dark roast coffee!  Delish!

It's 68 degrees, and we had ice in the birdbath in the high 20's for a couple of hours.  Didn't kill the tomato plants and it is very sunny out right now.  Even the caterpillars made it and the butterflies were following me all over the yard yesterday afternoon.  

These are still munching away on the milkweed.  One is starting to cocoon.  I love my monarchs! 

Well I got my soil!  The mulch is on its way this morning!  I just got the call!

Trump/Vivek: Democrats Worst NIGHTMARE

Well, Vivek comes across to me as saying the right things.  However I have a trust issue.  This country is in so much danger, from what the democrats created, including infiltrating and paying off some GOP, to join the corrupt club, of leadership.  Corrupt power!  

Trump did see that happening!  Just as he saw them in NYC struggling, building that ice rink.  He was in his office looked out his window and saw, that he could do it.  That he did, under budget!  This is the guy, that was once a democrat.  He cared to take on that project with the ice rink.  Same as he will do with this country!

27 Deg. In North Florida!

 Just 2 or 3 hours last night of below 30 deg., did this?  Yes boys and girls, it gets maybe one or two days of cold here in the winter.  Just that 1 or 2 day's of frost part.  Actually the high for today is in the high 50's.  Not bad!  Should be warming up now.  In the 80's next week!  

The last day we used the pool was the day before December 8th, our Christmas party.  Last year, we used the pool a week before Christmas.  It very's from year to year, this being our 3rd season.  I'm predicting this is it for frost.   We also had drained the pool last year.  We had it acid cleaned, painted around the edges and caulked.  Wasn't done probably since the place was built, in 2007.  It was filled 3 days after that clean up job.

I'm thinking, since some things are well established, they will do better in the cold.  Even the tomatoes did ok!  I never covered anything.  Lettuce, looks fine and so do the carrots!  Bunch onions and some others, are still pushing up.  I have many things started, in my indoor greenhouse to add.   Exciting and fun!

Many branches of the tomato plants have flowers on them!  Even this big tomato plant!  It was planted early October.  "Started from seed." The reason why the cherry tomatoes are doing well, is because they were in longer. 

I'll be making my own sauce, paste, salsa!  Got two different pepper plants started.  Since I like it mild, I won't be using their seeds, for that heat effect.  I will plant them though!  Yay!

It's Cold In Florida!

 I know it's called weather.  Not buying into the global bs.  At least it was sunny out.  It got up into the 50's.  We have had frost here for a couple of hours last year one day.  Then the year before that, the first season here, we had two days of clear sunny mornings with some frost on the grass.  By afternoon it warms up.  Not enough to go swimming though.

I harvested as many tomatoes as I could.  These are cherry tomatoes.  Some pretty big ones, for being cherry tomatoes.  They can ripen indoors now.  We shall see how the plants do.  No worries though, I have some started indoors.  Carrots and other cold crop I have should do fine.  There were more on the tomato vine, I just thought lets see what happens.

  

It's the right weather for working outside!  Nice and cool instead of sweltering heat.  I won't work in the yard when we have those two months of heat.  If I do it's pool, work, pool, work...  I refuse to get up early!  Did that all my life while working!  Not doing it now.  The vegetable garden will be fine and I will add mulch.  Just to keep weeds down.  I'm not messing around!

I found the sea grape that was buried by the lantana.  The butterfly garden was a mess and still is.  I'll get it looking good again.  A lot easier to maintain than actually putting in the garden.  It's established.

    

Then I found the stepping stones, bench and gnome!

I found my strawberry plants!  They were buried!  They look ok though.

A nice fire soon for all this stuff!  I'll let it dry out some.  No caterpillars on any of it.  That's what takes so long to prune.  I look for cocoons

People are going nuts, I refuse to go along with them.  Trump won!  Now while the little dictators spin their versions, are telling the people no?  The people are saying too damn bad treasonous, commie, assholes!  I know I'v had enough of them!

My New Years!

 Fireworks are cool!  I enjoy them in the neighborhood!  I can't stand stupid people dictating on my joy, because they are so miserable!  

Amazing how many are such control freaks out there!  Well, as always I don't care about these people!  I enjoy what I enjoy!  If you have a problem with that, it's definitely your problem!  Stay away from me with your take on anything!  

This blog is now going to be 20 years old!  Wow!  Time flys, when you're having fun!  I'm actually having a blast!

It's a beautiful sunny day!  One more day of decorations and they all come down.  Enjoyed every moment!  Parties, family and all!  The rest of the year, will only get better!  As long as you know God is in control, then you will be just fine!

With that!  I will continue to do what ever the hell I want!  

Look what all I started indoors, for next month!  Soon as the fear of frost is gone, which is sometime in January.  These babies and a few others directly sowed into the ground will be added!
